Yesterday Kit asked what will happen to him when he hits puberty. Fair enough question. We've talked about it a bit before but nothing specific. So, I gave him a rundown of things. When it came to heightened interest in girls, I didn't hold back.
"This will be the time when we learn if you are interested in girls or boys. You will start to feel a special kind of excitement inside for one or the other of them and that may tell us if you really are gay or not."
This statement didn't phase him at all. He took it in as though I was telling him he would be deciding whether he wanted grape or orange. It wasn't a problem at all. I think he's looking forward to finally finding out what's going on with him.
